The Center for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Somalia was established in 2010 with the mission of providing accessible and high-quality graduate education to young Somali professionals. Aimed at empowering ambitious graduates from local universities, the center offers a pathway for career advancement through a diverse range of specialized master’s programs. Recognizing the challenges faced by many—whether due to financial constraints, professional commitments, or other barriers that prevent them from pursuing studies abroad—the center also aims to foster academic growth and career development locally. Program Objectives
Leadership & Management
- Develop managerial skills and techniques to foster successful careers in the public and private sectors, equipping participants with a comprehensive understanding of leadership and organizational dynamics.
Peace & Reconstruction
- Empower students with knowledge and strategies to contribute effectively to nonviolent peace-building and reconstruction in post-conflict environment.
Technology & Innovation
- Equip professionals with the ability to adopt and leverage current and emerging technologies in information systems to drive innovation and efficiency.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, candidates are required to submit the following documents and meet the specified criteria:
A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or accredited academic institution in a discipline relevant to the applied master’s program.
o A final cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.0 (or its equivalent) in the undergraduate degree.
Two recommendation letters from professors or work supervisors who are familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities, professional skills, and potential for success in graduate studies.
Demonstration of English and Arabic language proficiency.
Submission of a fully completed application form, including all required documents.
A recent passport-sized photograph.
All applicants will undergo a comprehensive selection process as determined by the respective department, which may include written assessments, or other evaluative measures.
Master’s Programs
Currently, the Center for Postgraduate Studies provides students with the opportunity to pursue twelve distinct master’s degree programs, each designed to meet the evolving needs of various industries and academic fields. These programs are offered in both English and Arabic languages.

Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for graduation and qualify for the degree, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Coursework
Successfully complete all required courses and fulfill the total credit hours specified for their program.
Minimum CGPA
Achieve a minimum final Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.67 upon program completion.
Financial Clearance
Clear all outstanding fees owed to the university.
These criteria must be met to ensure candidates are fully qualified for degree conferral.
